Experience of directing with the BBC

One advantage, I have coming into this project is that for many years I have been involved in drama and theatre and have worked with many different directors and even directed myself. From this experience I know the correct way to get the desired performance out of someone and how to instruct them clearly.

I have also had the lucky experience to get to work on a BBC drama "The A Word" so I have had experience of working on a professional film set, so I understand how to be efficient with my time and organise it all.

In our video, we want to get happy and sad performances to provide a jugster positions of moods so i am going to instruct my actors to have a moment before takes to allow them to get into the mood that the scene requires this is known as "Emotion memory" and is something Katie and Luke are familiar with.

I also intended to use a idea known as proxemics which means the space between people and from this space you can easily guess at how people feel towards each other, if we have Katie and Luke close together in the montage it will communicate to the audience the idea of a relationship.

Planning: Mood board of principle location

Now that I see the colour scheme of my locations ,I need to start to decide what colours what I want to use for synergy which im thinking will be a mixture of grey, green and brown which is quite an earthy colour scheme so maybe we could explore this in our font? or carry these colours onto our digi pack creating synergy between the video and our promotional material

As for costumes that would work in this location I feel our initial costumes plans would still work, but to really pull them off and make them look good, we will have to have the framing of our shot's be very precise to make sure they blend and work together by not having to many colours show up in the shot.

How this has influenced my creativity and planning
This has influenced my creativity and planning as I am now seeing how I could direct certain scenes based around the locations and whats available near by, such as a long shot of Katie sat by herself on the train station platform.

Planning: Our actors

For our music video we are using two of my friends Katie and Luke, they are both very experienced actors and members of duck egg theatre company.

Katie
Katie has been a good friend of mine for many year's and lives locally to me so she wont have any issue when it comes to traveling. She is currently 17 and at college in her first year. She has alot of experience when it comes to drama with being involved in theatre and musical theatre for many years, even doing a national tour so acting in front of a camera wont be that much of an issue. She is also very pretty so she can act as a good role models for other girl's and appeal to males through mulvey's "male gaze"

Luke
Luke has been a friend of mine for many years, so when I asked him to act and help out he said yes without a moments hesitation. Luke is 17 and at college in his second year and has been involved in drama and music theatre since he was around 11. He has done two national tours of a musical so acting infront of a camera and me and Caity will not be an issue. Luke is very handsome and photogenic so we can make him appeal to girls and other men may like him if we create that star image for them

Research: Creating a star image

For our music video Katie and Luke cannot be themselves we have to create them a star image, so we are going to look at existing artists to gain influence and ideas for them. Some of the artist's we are looking at are Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks and Shania Twain as well as solo artists like Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and male artists like Michael Buble and Bruno Mars.

Ed Sheran and Taylor Swift are both very popular musicians who write songs that are very popular with both an old and young TA, something me and Caity both want our music video to have. There duet they did together we could defiantly use for inspiration into how we could style our artist's to make them seem likeable as they are both well liked by the public.

Katy Perry is a really upbeat artist, some of the costumes she wears are really out there and outlandish but dosen't really work for our video, but she is a really strong independent female artist which is something we want Katie to represent to leave a good role model for younger girls.

Ariana is a very modern, strong woman who is very independent and her songs show that she is strong and doesn't need a man to validate her success, she is a style icon for so many younger girls as she is young, very pretty, successful  and dresses in the latest fashion. In her video’s she also used Mullvey’s male gaze to attract an audience as she is often dressed seductive and looking seductive into camera.

Michael Buble would be a good person to influence how we style Luke with his clothing as it is very refined and smart looking even when he is not in a suit like we normally see him. One positive to styling Luke after Micheal Buble is that he appeals to both a young and old TA which we can hope it carries on to Luke

How this has influenced my planning
This has influenced my planning as it has made me aware of how subtle little changes can really help emphasise certain points of other people's character

Planning: Star Name Ideas

Since we are using two artist's we need to generate a suitable group name for our star image, these are some of the ideas we initially brain stormed
  • Frontrunners
  • The Clutch
  • The Sunshine Kids's
  • Dawn
  • The cult
  • Ocean rise
  • The Ashlings
  • 183
  • Crystal clear
  • The contrast
  • Night sky bandit's

We then tried to Google "Names that mean...." and tried Google Translate to change words we liked into different things that wouldn't already be existing bands

In google translate, I typed in light as we want to use various different lighting to show light and dark in our music video. I then translated light into to many different languages and these are the results I felt could be turned into a band name

  • The ligero
  • Ljos
  • Feny

    Planning: Principle photography

After a conversation we had in class, we decided that this weekend we will be going to Barton this weekend on a Saturday to go walk around and scout for locations. This is an important part of our project so we decided to do this now so we can get our locations done!

We plan to take photographs of locations we can get a sense of our colour scheme and will be able to start to plan synergy between our digipack and music video, we also need to ask our artists so we can get shot's of them on location to see what work's and what dosen't work.

Research music video 4: Slaves "Cheer up londan"

The video start's of with a unique handheld shot tracking a transit van. This is a unique thing this band "Slaves" does as they don't have the money to afford a fancy camera so it creates a unique style that is right away identifiable with the band. When the main singer enters right of frame he signifies for the camera to join him and follow him, this creates the effect of the camera being another person making us feel like we are right there with him on the street. To the right is an example of a long tracking shot that was used as the establishing shot as well.

    The first singer sings

"Put another 0 in your paycheck
Are you done digging your grave yet?
Put another 0 in your paycheck
Are you done digging your grave?
Put another 0 in your paycheck
Are you done digging your grave yet?
Put another 0 in your paycheck
                           Are you done?"

When the chorus of the song starts, with a much more aggressive tone we are introduced to the second singer of the band, dressed fully like the first singer apart from a different coloured tee shirt. This creates the star image of their band as them being alike and thinking similarly and having the same opinions. "You're dead, already, dead, dead, already-ready" he starts to sing as we are introduced to cheerleaders and brightly coloured balloons creating a sense of irony as even though he's singing about being dead and only caring about the money we make in life, this idea is supported by the lyrics of the first verse. we are shown bright reds, yellows, oranges and blues colours associated with life. To the left is an example of a group shot used well to introduce a new character.

Because of the band's low budget and tendency to use a hand held cam, they cannot use fancy editing transitions to transition to different shot's. Instead they use more creative method's like having the singer in the yellow shirt kick which then snaps to a different shot. I feel like this would be useful to me as it might give us another method we could do to change shot's instead of jump cuts.

The shot then changes to a buisness man swamped with people bothering him with work.  This links to the message the song gives of not worrying about money as even being in the park on a nice sunny day is unenjoyable as he always has to work. As the chorus of " Dead Already" starts to play a man wearing a sign reading dead already appears directly linking the visuals to the lyrics.

How this has influenced my creativity and planning
This has influenced my creativity and planning as it made me aware that even with a low budget you can create a good music video, it has also made me aware and given me a practical example of how to link visuals to lyrics

Group post planning: Costume and Make-up

Costume - As we are doing an indie rock video we need to represent this in the costume, I feel like it would be a good idea if both of us or even one of us went into town and went into the charity shops or even into the vintage thrift shops in Sheffield to find some clothes to fit the genre, or I even already have some vintage shirts that we could use. Joe has a lot of ideas about potential costumes so I think he is taking the lead in the costume hunt and I will be in charge of make-up.

Make-up - After researching indie music videos I found that make-up for the girls is actually very natural, this has lead me to think about just giving Katie a basic foundation and eyeliner look as the make-up shouldn't really be a big part of this story line. I might add a bit of  dark eye make-up around Luke's eyes to highlight the metaphorical death feel, but in the flashbacks he should just look normal. I feel like when the relationship is happy, Katie's hair can be braided and pretty yet neat, with shimmery and sparkly yet natural make-up, but when the relationship is 'dead' she should have messy, tousled hair and darker eyes but keeping it natural, I used powerpoint to make a mood board for inspiration.

    Research: Shot types and montage

In mine and Caity's music video for our media course, we plan to included a montage to give a sense of narrative to establish Katie's and Luke's relationship. We looked to other music videos to gain ideas and this is what we found.

For this shot we want to have them both hanging their heads off the edge of the bed smiling to each other, with the background blurred to draw focus to their faces.

We want to include some shot's of them happier together before the relationship starts to turn sour like we planned in our lyrics analysis, this would be a good example as we would be able to see their body language to tell how happy they are together.

A shot of their hand's inter linked together would give a clear narrative to their emotions, as if they are close together it gives you the idea of them being in love but if we take some shot's of their hands drifting apart you can tell how they don't fell as happy as they do normally.

From this shot it can tell two stories, them being happy or him being sad and she's reassuring them. Since we are going down the route of him leaving her this shot could be useful to use as it could communicate him being unhappy.

    Shot's we will use

    • A medium close up of them from behind sitting together
    • An extreme close up of their hands
    • A blurred shot of their Head's hanging off the edge of a bed or

How this influenced my creativity and planning
This influenced my planning mainly as I knew that when we switched to basing our piece off relationships, I knew a good montage would be useful to get our concept across but now we have planned out what we are doing I feel calmer about the process of making a music video.

Planning: Rough sketches for record label ideas

These are a few rough idea's I had for the record label's name and graphic design, Since we are creating an indie music video I decided to try and go down an indie design with names like " All City Records" and "Smash Records"

    Friday 16 September 2016

    Planning: using Propp's narrative theory

Vladimir Propp. I.e., the idea of a hero, a princess and a villain, this is a narrative theory that has it's traces in almost all forms of narrative as it is the most used example of a plot. Mine and Caity's music video also follow's this structure as Luke is presented as the villain as he is shown to be hurting Katie emotionally through the montage Me and Caity plan to film.

Katie on the other hand is shown as a love interest the role commonly played by the princess in the narrative but then is also shown as the hero as she solves her issue by herself by coming to terms with Luke no longer being with her. Which then adheres to the idea of liberal feminism- as she doesn't need a man to look after her.

My personal experience filming - The A Word

I am an actor, its what I do for fun and also what I do for a job. Early last year I was lucky enough to land a part in the hit BBC show " The A Word" and had the experience to work with the BBC and be on a professional film set. I think this experience will really help me on the set of my music video as i will understand how to get the best performances out of people, be efficient with my time and make sure the footage is the best it's can be as we are working against the clock here as we do have a deadline to get all this done by!

    Planning: Costume

Luckily our music video only features two people, good friends of mine who are actors Katie and Luke, which means we only have to plan for two people which is a defiantly a positive thing. For the costume for our video, I have a few idea's

The plot of our music video follow's the idea of relationships and how you always think about the people you aren't with, Luke in our music video will be playing the person Katie is thinking off. I want to dress him in black as it create's the representation of him gone straight away but leaves the question in the audiences mind's of " are they no longer together or is he dead". This is an example of the outfit I would want to use as it is simple but refined and goes against the stereotype of young people being dressed in Track pants and hoodies.

In our Video we plan to make a montage to establish to the audience what their relationship is, for this montage I want to have look dressed like a good guy so I would want to have him with some kind of blue shirt as people connect blue with the ability to trust them only for him then in the montage to slowly pull away from Katie and slowly break away from her challenging the representation of a good guy we made of him.

Since our establishing shot is of a bedroom it makes sense to have Katie dressed in pyjamas for that and maybe some other shot's so we get a sense of time passing from the change of wardrobe. If they have alot of different colours we could take the colours from them and place them on the digi pack creating synergy between the music video and the digi pack itself.

The outfit on the right is an example of what i would want Katie to change into after the pyjamas as it is aesthetic and stereotypicaly kind of girly.

    Institutions: Spotify

    Group post Institutions: SoundCloud

Sound cloud is a really effective way of getting your music online, the site is actually just audio files, not videos so we wouldn't be able to upload our video on here unfortunately. It is a free website unless you want to subscribe to Sound cloud Premium, but it is always free to upload audio tracks. This is going to be really helpful for new and upcoming artists as Sound cloud is becoming more and more popular and helping undiscovered artists find managers and record labels, this is partly due to the fact that the service attracts more than 175 million unique monthly listeners, while content creators upload about 12 hours worth of audio every minute.

How this research has influenced my planning
I don't see us using Soundcloud for our media project as there is no option to upload videos and that is obviously the entire task we have been set so it is really not a viable option for us, however I do really think it would be a great platform if we were to create an original single.

I fully agree with what Caity has said here, for a relativity unknown artist who has a song recorded but no music video due to the lack of funds to make it or not knowing how Sound cloud is a great way to go with people finding success and agents on the site!.

Sound Cloud is one of those sites that appeals to all ages and both gender's through its design and vast depth of content on the website itself.

Sound Cloud is a global online audio distribution platform based in Berlin, Germany, that enables its users to upload, record, promote, and share their originally-created sounds. According to the company’s data, in December 2014, the service attracts more than 175 million unique monthly listeners, while content creators upload about 12 hours’ worth of audio every minute

Some sound cloud feature’s I found from research are
    • ·         Among Sound Cloud’s key features is the ability to allow artists to upload their music with a distinctive URL. By allowing sound files to be embedded anywhere, Sound Cloud can be combined with Twitter and Facebook to let members reach an audience better. By clicking a share button corresponding to the site where they wish to promote the shared content - such as Facebook - and approving the post, artists and publishers can let audiences on that site see the content through their desired media outlet.

    •       Registered Sound Cloud users have the power to listen to as much content as they wish and to upload up to 180 minutes of audio to their profile. All of these features are free of charge and available to all Sound Cloud users as soon as they have registered a Sound Cloud profile. An average of 12 hours of audio is uploaded to the site every minute, and half of Sound Cloud’s content is split between small-time musicians and mainstream superstars

Planning: Using Facebook as a method of communication

Throughout the planning process for our music video, we have used Facebook as our method of communication with our actors - this is because it meant that we could contact everyone quickly with ease in a way that meant that everyone received the same message by creating a “group chat” where we can tall talk at the same time by using Facebook.

We are also going to use the group chat to arrange times and dates that will be viable for everyone to get to.

    Planning: Blogger app

When it comes to using blogger for my coursework blog we always have to have access so we can see what posts we have done and what feed back we get from our teacher as well as checking the sixth form media blog for any work that has been set for completion.

Research: The style of indie rock music

The stylistic fingerprints of Indie Rock music is a short list of features that can be commonly found in Indie rock music.

    Instrumentation:
    ·         Vocals (usually male)
    ·         Backing Vocals
    ·         Two guitarists – Lead and Rhythm
    ·         Keyboards
    ·         Bass
    ·         Drums

Performance and Arrangement:                                     ( An example of a rock band, the beatles)
    ·         Guitar as the main harmonic instrument
    ·         Guitar sounds commonly associated with indie are often referred to as jangly – a fairly light tone, often picked, sustained arpeggios with effects
    ·         Vocals are often fairly understated, with a melancholy or introspective feel
    ·         Backing vocals are not usually a big feature, so the music tends to be relatively sparse
    ·         Some songs are long and loosely structured, almost like extended jams around a groove
    ·         Solos do not form a very important part of the music

    Technology and Production:
    ·         Guitar amplifiers and effects play a big part in the sound of Indie music – The light, sustained tone and use of delays is common in many bands
    ·         DIY production ethic, low budget recordings based on simple capture of live performances.

    Influences:
    ·         UK Rock (The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks)
    ·         Velvet Underground and Psychedelic Rock
    ·         Punk Rock
    ·         Funk
    ·         House

Planning: Locations and example's of shots from the house location

This is the room I want to use for the establishing shot of the video, we would be able to see both characters from the start and it's a visually interesting shot with lots of different angel's. It also create's the representation of Luke who would be sat on the window sill being more powerful than Katie who would be in a lower angel to him. This is a representation we want to create as it fit's our concept.
I would like to use the grate on the stair's as a natural frame as it would make an interesting simple shot to show the characters moving with the feet appearing on the stairs. If we try different speed's we might be able to show different emotions through the pacing of them moving.

In my back garden there is a wooden frame, if we tried shooting at night with this draped in lights ( Fairy lights ) for example that could be an interesting aesthetic shot. It would be good to use as it's a location we have access to without any issues.

    A change in plan

Mine and Caity's initial plan for our music video "Dreams" the Bastille cover was to have at as quite outlandish showing the element and nature of a dream but upon reflection we decided we had been to ambitious in our planing with our intertextuality, plot and special fx make up.

During our last lesson me and Caity sat down and decided to change our initial concept from "Outlandish" to focus on "Relationships" especially how when someone who is no longer with you , you can't get them out of your head. The plan for our video now is way more minimalist and focus's on narrative which means we have less location's, no more special fx and no more intertexuality.

Once we analysed the lyrics and tried to match images to lyrics we decided on a new, metaphorical concept based video. We are going to use Katie and Luke, two actors from The Duck Egg Theatre Company to be our actors. The new story is going to show a girl with a boy who is either dead, or dead to her, it is open to the audience’s interpretation. We are going to do this through having him dressed in black clothes and fading in and out of shots, also by having photographs of them together around the bedroom we are using. We thought a montage of them together would help emphasize their relationship, but to link the shots to the lyrics 'players only love you when they're playing' we are going to start the montage happy but slowly get less happy with extreme close ups of texts saying 'sorry can't make it' and Katie being stood up on a date etc. This kind of story really links with the repeated lyrics, "what you had, and what you lost".

    Tuesday 13 September 2016

    Planning: Intertextuality

Another way we could add intertextuality into the music video is when we take the shot to the 'dream world' is we are planning to go through the wardrobe door like in Narnia, we are going to go through the wardrobe in a bedroom through to a woodland area in Barton.

    Planning: Music video actor's

The actor's I think we will be using for the music video are from a local theatre company known as  duck egg theatre company, duck egg theatre company is ran by Hayley Murallie and is both amateur and professional with options to do regular show's and once in a while show's that are professional and that you get paid for being in. The quality of the show's are good meaning that the actor's in our video are used to performing to a high standard and are good at performing  meaning there would be no issues with the performance itself.

    Applying for copy right

After doing some research into who own's the song "Dreams", I found out that it was the Warner Music Group. After using their website I managed to find the contact page and sent them this message to try and acquire their permission.

    Sunday 11 September 2016

Group Research Post: Special FX Makeup

since the song we have chosen is called "Dreams" we figured that we could make this a very outlandish and whimsical so we are going to use bold and bright make up, using a lot of glitter. We are also going to use Special FX make-up to really make the dreamlike feel more prominent. We have been discussing possible ideas for make-up and costumes but we need to remember that we have a budget to stick to and we won't be able to have severely outrageous costumes like Lady GaGa as it is just not in our budget.

We looked online at make up and fx make up and found some possible inspiration...

The lobster hands from American Horror Story are a weird but simple way to capture the essence of a dream based world, this can be achieved by simply taping the fingers together, covering with scar wax and blending. Scar wax is a cheap product and should fit well within the budget.

Another image we found as inspiration looks rather gory on the actual photo but instead of using fake blood to fill the joker style Chelsea grin, we are going to use glitter to make it less Halloween and more whimsical. This can also be made with scar wax, or could be made with liquid latex and tissue which I already have.

This is the kind of eye make-up I imagined that the extras would have in the music video, something bright and glittery to add the dream like feel but nothing too crazy to distract from the main characters in the story whos make-up will be more intense and crazy.

My partner for this project Caity is the one who has the technical know how, so I would strongly recommended checking out her post

Since the song we are doing for our music video is "Dreams" we have decided to go down a outlandish and whimsical route, My partner for this project Caity Duggan has an intrest in special FX make-up and can do things such as scar's and lobster hand's and her friend Maddy McDonald is also very talented when it comes to make up so we can really capture the essence of a "dream". We have been discussing possible ideas for make-up and costume but we need to remember we have to stick to a budget so we cannot go fully off the wall like Lady gaga for example.

We talked about the lobster hands and decided that it would be a good piece of special FX make up as it looks so outlandish it would really help get that idea about a dream across. Caity already had learned to do this through special FX make up so there would be no issue of learning and she has the supplies to do it and since we are both fan's of post modernism we thought why not do it. We want our main female character to be diffrent so this would be her makeup.

We then agreed that if our main girl is going to have strange make up then our male main character needs to have something as well, we found the image of the Chelsea smile but instead of using fake blood we want to use glitter in the smile to make it have that post modern look.

    Group Research Post: Establishing shot

Music videos are the main form of representing the story behind the song. The video created is the thing that brings the lyrics to life and gives them a physical representation. The lyrics of songs are meant to entertain and connect but the music video makes it a lot more real and relatable, for example, in the song 'When You're Gone'' by Avril Lavigne, the song is highly emotive and people can relate through a range of different situations be it a break-up, the loss of a loved one and so on, yet the video shows real people experiencing the pain that the intended audience are or have been feeling.

The settings are used in a way in which allows various different view points to be covered, these include...

    • A very pink and girly bedroom in which a heartbroken girl has been parted from her roughed up boyfriend. The setting here really brings their story together, the typical yet forever romantic poor boy and rich girl who's parents will do anything to keep them apart. Her room and clothing suggest a sheltered and privileged upbringing but the tidiness shows a firm control. This scene leads to the wood area in which the girl and her boyfriend carved their initials into a tree.

    • A dark and tired room, clearly representative of the feelings of this man, the story line surrounding him is that his wife has passed away. In this shot the dark colours and half made bed shows how he feels darkened and in disarray through the loss of the woman he loves, he looks at photos of her and cries and looks through all her clothes finding mementos of her to remember her. This scene leads to a graveyard at the end in which he stands wearing his suit, visiting his wife.

    • This scene represents the military families that are missing a part of their lives due to fighting in wars. This is represented by a simple family home with a husband and a very pregnant wife. He is leaving for duty and therefore is wearing his combat gear, but the wife is wearing a white flowing dress maybe to highlight the innocence of her love and unborn child. There is questionable moments which could lead to the husbands death but the ending shows a text saying 'I'm OK, I miss you'.

These are just everyday scenarios that are so relatable to so many people and that's why its so hard hitting and emotional.
(There wasn't any costume changes really in this video so I will analyse costume from another video)

How this research has influenced my planning...
I feel like in our music video, we should use various locations which can portray a vary of different experiences but that also work together.
A list of possible locations we could use is...

    • The old train tunnel in Brigg
    • Woodlands
    • Pebble Beach ft abandoned fishing hut
    • the Humber Bridge
    • Thornton Abbey
    • Graveyard

I agree with what Caity said about the setting for a music video. Settings can be used to express multiple different thing's, what ends up being shown from the setting depends on how you're actors act and are dressed. A bedroom for example can be a symbol of youth and can be a symbol or romance.

Having multiple settings in a music video can keep the video interesting and vibrant, the average video if it is not performance based can have upwards of eight locations.

    How this influenced my planning
This influenced my planning as it made me aware about the importance of locations, a step moving forward for mine and Caity's project here would be to start planning out our locations we want to use so we don't fall behind. When we have our locations we can also plan our narrative around them.

    Group Research post: Costume

Costumes in music videos are used as much to tell a story as settings I feel, if a video has different cuts and time jumps, the costumes can help keep these ordered and making sense, costume is a very important part in stories and also getting across the message behind the song and video, in the music video for '23' by Wiz Khalifa and Miley Cyrus the entire video is based on a brand of shoes, this will create a hype with the audience over these shoes and everyone will want to be seen in them.

Costume in music videos can also enhance the setting, for example, Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' has elegant, large castles and beautiful backdrops, but the old fashioned costumes like the corset dresses, the curled hair and the man's lose fitting suit with boots really show the time period that the video was trying to create to go along side the Romeo and Juliet themed song.

Another important use of costume in music videos, is to create an identity for the artist. In Gerri Halliwell's 'It's Raining Men' the singer wore very little, tight clothing to show off her new physique after losing weight, Miley Cyrus used her outfit choices to represent that she is not Hannah Montana any more and that she is a grown up woman with a very sexualised personality and she shows this through her clothing. This kind of choice appeals to mainly the younger generation, probably teens and young adults as these will be fans of Miley and they will admire her confidence and want to dress like Miley. These clothes also appeal to males as explained in the Male Gaze theory by Laura Mulvey, showing how women dress and act in a certain way to appeal to men.

This also applies to the opposite gender, Justin Bieber has recently been releasing more mature songs with videos to match, the provocative video for 'What Do You Mean' with Justin showing off his toned body while getting steamy with his also under dressed co star have caught the eyes of many teens and young adults of all genders, wanting to be them or be with them.

How this research has influenced my planning
This research has really opened my eyes to just how important costumes are in a music video, this has helped me decide that the costumes really need to represent the genre of our chosen song, but also make sense to the story line while creating a star image for our actors and telling the story. We don't want overly extravagant costumes so nothing like these shown above but just simple jeans and vintage shirts etc.

I agree fully with what Caity has said about the use of costumes in music videos, they are a very useful tool to establish a star's image for example if we dress a new star in ripped jeans and a stripy jumper with longer hair we know that they aren't going to be singing pop and instead will be singing rock or indie music. Costume is a very important tool in music video and must be used well!.

The saying "Dont judge a book by its cover" comes to mind only for the fact we have to in music video's, from what a star wear's, their make up and their hair we can judge and understand their character and what they are trying to represent entirely.

How this has influenced my planning
This influenced my planning as it made me aware about how important a costume is when it comes producing a music video, I think one thing I need to start doing now is to plan the costumes on what I want people to wear . As costumes can be an important tool in communicating who they are right away

    Possible song changes

I may have to look at changing my song for my music video due to the commitment if the local group we are going to use so these are the options I have gone with.

    Ellie Goulding- Lost And Found

Gotta love this field and the cherry sky
Under blossom clouds though it's late July
You don't even try, still, you look so cool
Like a cover boy when you light the moon

Near the countryside but I just forgot
All the things that matter I forget a lot
I get so caught up in the city cloud
But this place is still my first love

Is there anybody out there waiting for me on my way?
If that somebody is you, then baby, I just wanna say
Tonight, nothing will bring us down
Tonight, we're at the lost and found

Guess I need to run, take me to the bus
But don't let me go, no, don't let me on
Gotta hold me tight, won't put up a fight
Of course I'll stay, I'll stay the night

Is there anybody out there waiting for me on my way?
If that somebody is you, then baby, I just wanna say
Tonight, nothing will bring us down
Tonight, we're at the lost and found

We're at the lost and found
We're at the lost and found

Is there anybody out there waiting for me on my way?
If that somebody is you, then baby, I just wanna say
Tonight, nothing will bring us down
Tonight, yeah, we're at the lost and found

We're at the lost and found
We're at the lost and found

    John Mayer - Free Fallin

She's a good girl, loves her mamma
    Loves Jesus and America too,
She's a good girl, crazy bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too, yeh yeh...

It's a long day. Livin' in Reseda
There's a free way running through the yard
I'm a bad boy 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breaking her heart

    And I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    And I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin

All the vampires, walkin' through the valley
They move west down Ventura Blvd.
And all the bad boys are standing in the shadows
And the good girls are home with broken hearts.

    And I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Now I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin

    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin, now I'm
    Free fallin.

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland
Wanna write her name in the sky,
I wanna free fall out into nothin
Oh, I'm gonna leave this, this world for a while

    Now I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Now I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin
    Then I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Now I'm free,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Free fallin, fallin,
    Free fallin, fallin...

Bastile ft Gabrielle aplin - Dreams

    [Verse 1:]
    [Dan]
    Now there you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
It's only right that you should play it the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
    Of your loneliness

    [Gabrielle]
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
    In the stillness of remembering
    What you had

    [Dan]
    And what you lost

    [Gabrielle]
    And what you had

    [Dan]
    And what you lost

    [Chorus:]
    [Gabrielle]
Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Women they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you'll know,
    You'll know, you'll know

Now here I go again I see a crystal vision
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
    Dreams of loneliness

    [Gabrielle & Dan]
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
    And what you lost
    And what you had
    And what you lost

    [Chorus:]
    [Dan]
Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Women they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you'll know,
    You'll know

    [Gabriella & Dan]
All we had and all we lost
All we had and all we lost

    [Chorus:]
    [Gabrielle & Dan]
Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Women they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean, you'll know,
    You'll know, you'll know
(All we had and all we lost)
    You'll know, you'll know
(All we had and all we lost)
    You'll know, you'll know

(All we had and all we lost)
